Left the shelter Miramonti part now down and passed the Alpe di Vibbiana meet the villages of Caprignana and to Orzaglia, situated on a grassy terrace with a marvelous view on the mighty Alps and the valley of the river Serchio. Continuing we reach the village of Vibbiana where we recommend a short detour to reach the fortress of Verrucole. After visiting this wonderful work of medieval descent continues and meets the village of San Romano in Garfagnana with the old core tightly around the well-preserved baroque church. The ride continues along the left bank of the Serchio valley, scattered with small and charming medieval villages such as Sillicagnana and Sambuca.
It leaves the main road and reached the valley floor in the locality Bacciano you take a nice flat country road that leads cyclists at the placid lake of Pontecosi. After the medieval bridge the route alongside a stretch of the historic railroad to reach Garfagnana the sp16 then , after which returns a ride quiet and away from traffic. Thanks to a nice long stretch of narrow streets you enter the heart of Castiglione di Garfagnana crossing ” Porta Nuova “. Shooting the bike you can reach Villa Collemandina , the precious Romanesque church and going through wide meadows and woods meets the village of Magnano, separated by Canigiano by an impressive bridge over the river stream .
Once in Corfino, we recommend a visit to the shrine of “Madonna del Perpetuo Soccorso” to admire the altarpiece by Pietro da Talada. At Pruno you can admire the typical stone building thatched .
The road sign welcomes you in the protected park “Orecchiella” promises to be the latest, pleasant rides before returning to the refuge “Miramonti”.
