Parma – Lucca

DAY1: Parma.

Day 2. Parma—Torrechiara (41 km – difference in height 3D0 mt).

You wiil pedai out of the city profiting othe new network of cycie paths, which takes you directly io the countryside. Foliowing the Colli di Parma wine route you finally reach the Torrechara Castie, one of the better preserved casties in Europe.

Day 3. Torrechiara—Corniglio (43 km – difference in height 700 mt).

The first obhgatory stop is In LanghIrano here you wiii visit the Ham Museum and get to know the history and the secrets of this produci, which is appreciated ali aver the world. Pedaving along a panoramic small road with extraordinary sights on the torrent Parma and on the nearby Apennine ridge, you wili reach the viDage of Cornigho, famous for its castie and its cuisine.

Day 4. Corniglio—ApeIla (47 km – difference in height 800 mt).

 Though a whaie mountain environment you will reach the Passo del Lagastreflo and then go down along the Tuscany side of the nationai park foliowing the Via Francigena, on the tracks of the pHgrims, who in medieval times were directed towards Rome. In Apella you will be able to taste the best typical food in your agriturismo sftuated in al 3th century tower.

Day 5. ApeIla—Ponteccio (55 km – dfference in height 1000 mt).

A panoramic stage, which brngs together the Tuscany territories of the Lunigiana and Garfag nana; you wili pedai in front of the imposing Apuan Aips visiting characterstic vivages piunged among olive trees and vai uabie vineyards. After the CarpineDi Pass you wiH reach the smali viliage of Ponteccio and the mn H Castagna, where they say you can eat the best mushrooms soup of the area.

Day 6. Ponteccio—Castenuovo Garfagnana (33 km – difference in height 200 mt).

 You wili go down through the Garfagnana among secular chestnut trees; once you have reached the valley floor crossed by the river Serchio, you wili go on untii the beautiful Pontecosi lake, A smal detour takes you io the viDage of Pieve Fosciana and further downhifl you wili reach the nearby viDage of Casteinuovo Garfagnana with its powerfui fortress Rocca Ariostea.

Day 7. Castelnuovo Garfagnana—Lucca (56 km – difference in height 400 mt).

A short ascent on the foat of the Apuan Aips, then downhiu to the city of Barga, one of the 100 most beautifui viiiages in Italy. You will cycie along the river Serchio up to the exceptionai “Ponte del Diavolo” (the devil’s bridge). The road wiH take you io the 18th century Villa Reale di Marlia: Napoleon’s sister had it bullt and it is famous far its extremeiy weH-kept park. Thanks to a very nice cycle path you will finally reach the heart of Lucca, a precious city of arts surrounded by its undamaged walls.

Day 8. Lucca. After breakfast end of the servces.
